CNRL Horizon Project

Location: Fort McMurray, Alberta

KMC successfully tendered for a major dewatering program at the Horizon project in 2004. The project involved developing a sequence of drainage channels in the upgrader site area to dewater the ground prior to construction. Over 24 kilometres of ditch in muskeg and sand areas were excavated totaling approximately 1.2 million cubic metres. KMC provided a number of improvements to the original engineering design and the project was completed ahead of schedule.
