Canada’s second National Day for Truth and Reconciliation
September 30, 2022, is Canada’s second National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, to recognize the tragic history of the Canadian residential school system. Over the span of residential schooling, over 150,000 indigenous children were forced from their families into residential schools. National Day for Truth and Reconciliation remembers the children who never came home and the trauma experienced by the families left behind. It also recognizes the resilience, strength, and healing journeys of the survivors and their families.
